The team at Great Spaces were delighted at the appearance of Marilyn Monroe (aka Suzie Kennedy - the world's best lookalike!) at a medal winning garden they had installed at the 2007 RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. Marilyn was bowled over by the planting, so much so that she even sang a little refrain from "I wanna be loved by you" to our MD Ian Bush - hence his rather surprised expression!
Great Spaces were the landscape contractor for this Silver medal winning garden, designed by Lorna Thomas and Davinia Wild to reflect the garden for a couple getting married and using The Bottom Drawer's alternative wedding gift list service to enable their wedding guests to contribute towards small parts of the overall garden as their wedding list!
Hot tropical colours lifted the garden on some very dull, rainy days and we were thrilled by the comments of the passing RHS members, many of whom thought it should have won Gold!
The sleeper walls were built from English green oak from renewable and sustainable resources, treated with linseed oil to give a lovely warm colour. The small circular deck was constructed from the same oak to match.
