Eco and Sensory gardens for schools and carehomes

Great Spaces has designed and installed a range of gardens designed to offer eco-learning opportunites for schools, as well as sensory elements (to stimulate sight, sound, touch and smell) for schools and particularly carehomes.

In the eco-gardens we don't just concentrate on ecologically sound materials to build the gardens, but can incorporate separate areas for items like large wormeries with viewing windows to see how the worms make compost, separate composting areas, vegetable beds and outdoor classrooms. We can source and supply furniture and games to complete the garden.

In the sensory gardens our designers incorporate a range of elements to stimulate as many senses as are dictated by the garden's users. These might include particularly scented plants, or plants that have different textures or make noises when moved by the wind. Also included might be scultptural elements such as stained glass to reflect sunlight, or dancing wind mobiles, or sound systems. Water can be a wonderful addition when designed in a safety conscious way.

Please contact us if you are interested in any of the above.

“Based on the standard of work [of two separate projects including a sensory garden] we have approached Great Spaces for possible further extensions to our existing gardens for the near future and would certainly have no hesitation in recommending them to any one else.” Birmingham City Council Heart of England Care for Hurstway Care Home.
